The kx-5255 cinema full range stage loudspeaker featuring dual 15 inch bass drivers in a low frequency enclosure (kx-2610) and a 4 inch voice coil compression driver, short throw horn with 1¾ inch throat and mounting bracket (kx-3250).
The kx-2610 is a state of the art loudspeaker system and was developed by ‘reverse engineering’ the THX* cinema loudspeaker specification. The low frequency driver parameters and the enclosure were determined from the desired requirements of a stage loudspeaker as outlined by THX*. This ensured the closest embodiment of the specifications that technology allows, using components specially made for cinema applications. The bass drivers have massive ferrite magnet structures with engineered components to achieve maximum efficiency. Symmetrical gap geometry, combined with the large linear voice coil travel, ensures minimum distortion at all levels. The driver also features a purpose cast ribbed cone of specially selected paper and treatments which produce extreme bass levels.
The 4 inch diameter voice coil, professional compression driver features a ferrite magnet system and a high temperature treated polyethylene dome and suspension. This is attached to a precision lightweight voice coil made from edgewound aluminium ribbon, on a high temperature Kapton former. Together, the kx-5275 provides an exceptionally high acoustic power output over an extremely wide frequency range, with low harmonic distortion and excellent power handling. This is especially evident in the third harmonic, in the critical 1kHz – 3kHz region.
This complete system can also be specified with a passive filter network and should a passive filter be required the model number to be specified is a kx-5275P. The passive filter network will be factory fitted within the kx-2610 low frequency enclosure.
